Jonathan Shapira is an associate at Goodwin Procter LLP and a member of the firm’s Technology Companies Group.  Jonathan represents private and public companies in a range of industries including new media, internet, software, life sciences, clean energy and water purification.  He counsels his clients on start-up and formation matters, venture capital financings, mergers and acquisitions, initial public offerings, debt financings and other general corporate and corporate finance matters.  Jonathan serves as Secretary of the New England Water Innovation Network and as a director of the New England Israel Business Council.

Karen, a chemist with an MBA, is Executive Director of NEWIN and anxious to ease the path for new technologies to meet the ongoing and upcoming water-related challenges. Karen has 30 years with industrial water, wastewater and process separations including start-up technologies and Fortune 500 Corporations. Karen is an industry consultant and a member of the Massachusetts Water Resource Authority (MWRA) Wastewater Advisory Committee (WAC).

Director Research

Nicole DeSantis is a research and communications professional specializing in water innovation, management and policy. She has worked in water, environmental, and public health research with leading international, nonprofit and academic institutions including the United Nations Environment Programme and Harvard School of Public Health. Nicole completed a Masters of Science in Water Science, Policy and Management from Oxford University where she examined the water/energy/agriculture nexus and corporate sustainability.

Per Suneby is a serial entrepreneur with over 25 years of experience in clean energy, clean water, IT & telecommunications, and power generation with startup companies, venture capital firms, and Fortune 500 technology companies. Suneby is President & COO of Vanguard Renewables, LLC, a developer of waste-to-energy projects. Prior to Vanguard Renewables, Suneby served as President and CEO of BioConversion Solutions, LLC, a developer of innovative process technology and systems to convert bio-waste to energy, fertilizer, clean water and other byproducts. Currently serving as Chairman of the Board of ByteLight, Inc., Suneby was previously the co-founder and CEO of Indus River Networks, Inc., CEO of Converged Access, Inc., and Executive Chairman of LiquidPiston, Inc. He serves on the Board of the New England Water Innovation Network (NEWIN) and is a Founding Fellow of the New England Clean Energy Council (NECEC) Fellowship Program.
